The American Legion Post 94, in Flatonia, Texas was established on April 18, 1919 by a group of local veterans who had served in World War I. The original charter of the post was signed by local veterans and was sponsored by the Texas Department of The American Legion. Post 94 is a 501 (c), nonprofit organization operating under the National American Legion. The membership is composed of veterans from Flatonia and the surrounding areas.
Today, Post 94 is still very active and continues to serve the Flatonia community and surrounding areas. The Post holds regular meetings every second Thursday of every month. The Post provides scholarships for Boys State as well as scholarships for college. The Post places flags at veteran’s graves on special holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day. They also provide military funeral honors for veterans. The Legion Hall is used to host reunions, weddings, dances, and other special events for the citizens of this area.

Dedicated the 12th of November, 1989, this memorial honors the men and women of the Flatonia area who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. It stands in proud remembrance of their achievements in helping defend our country and to preserve its freedom, and especially to those who gave their lives so that this nation remains free….This memorial shall forever remain a humble tribute to their great sacrifice.
